History

ADLiB is a stand-alone division founded by the long-standing business and legal publisher, Thorogood Publishing Ltd, which recognised the need for independent certification to be available for the suppliers of the numerous distance-learning programmes on the market today.

ADLiB, other than being the short form of The Academy of Distance Learning in Business takes the following meanings as inspiration:

• Ad lib is from the Latin ad libitum meaning ‘at one’s pleasure’ – there is no reason why management and professional development cannot be enjoyable as well as worthwhile.

• Ad lib could also be a loose Latin short-form of ‘to the library’ – but distance learning certificated by ADLiB is deliverable more conveniently to you, on screen or in print.
